CSU General Secretary Warns AfD Could Leak Sensitive Data at Munich Security Conference

Martin Huber, the CSU’s general secretary, warned that AfD members could pass sensitive information to U.S. Republicans during the Munich Security Conference. Speaking on RTL and ntv’s “Frühstart” on Friday, he said, “I place my trust in the AfD here. You can see this in the numerous parliamentary questions the AfD submits, many of which contain sensitive content-such as details about critical infrastructure”. Huber added that the depth of the AfD’s queries raises the question of who benefits and who is truly interested. “Given this context, the danger that the AfD might relay sensitive material is always present” he stressed.

Despite his concerns, Huber noted it was the organiser’s decision who receives invitations. “To my knowledge, no prominent AfD representatives are invited” he said. Three AfD members of the Bundestag will attend officially for the first time in two years, but the party’s foreign‑policy spokesman, Jürgen Frohnmaier, is not on the guest list. “He is still in Munich, desperately trying to schedule meetings” Huber pointed out, concluding that the AfD’s presence is more about image than substance.
