The Pentagon announced on Sunday that three U.S. soldiers were killed during the military operation against Iran. Five more servicemembers suffered serious injuries, and several others sustained minor shrapnel wounds and concussions.
Combat operations are still ongoing, and U.S. forces are actively responding. The situation remains fluid. In respect for the families, the identities of the fallen soldiers and additional details will be released 24 hours after notifying the next of kin.
It is unclear how the soldiers lost their lives. Iran, retaliating for U.S. and Israeli attacks that began on Saturday, has targeted U.S. military bases in the region. President Donald Trump warned in a video statement early Saturday morning that U.S. troops could be killed during the operation.
