German Pensions to Rise 4.24% in July 2026, Outpacing Inflation and Driven by Robust Wage Growth

Starting July 1, 2026, pensions in Germany will increase by 4.24 percent, federal labour minister Bärbel Bas (SPD) announced on Thursday. The steep rise is attributed to strong wage growth. The figure is well above current inflation, which stood at 1.9 percent in February. However, the ongoing war in the Middle East and the resulting jump in energy prices could push consumer prices higher again. In the previous year, pensions were raised by 3.74 percent. Annual adjustments are based on the development of wages and salaries.
