Eurowings Pilots Warn of Easter Strike After Pension Negotiations Collapse

The union Vereinigung Cockpit has warned that pilots at Eurowings could strike during the Easter holidays. “A strike in the Easter period is not ruled out at the moment” said Heike Wagner, the union’s spokesperson, to the Rheinische Post on Thursday. She added that the employer must present a negotiable offer; “Until that happens we reserve the right to take further action”.

Regarding how far in advance labor measures can be announced, Wagner said the announcement period is at the union’s discretion. “We always carefully weigh our members’ interests against the surrounding conditions” she explained.

The union has already declared that its negotiations with Eurowings over company pension provisions have failed. In an internal survey, 94 % of the participating members voted in favor of industrial action.
