The electro‑rock band Unheilig has secured a fresh number‑one position in the German album charts, according to data released by GfK on Friday. Their latest release, Liebe Glaube Monster, becomes the group’s fifth chart‑topping album, following earlier successes with Grosse Freiheit, Lichter der Stadt, Gipfelstürmer and Von Mensch zu Mensch. It is also the highest‑selling German‑artist album in its first week since Rammstein’s Zeit almost four years ago.
In the top‑ten list, SSIO’s decade‑old album 0,9 has moved to number 2 thanks to a new anniversary edition. Ahead of him are Harry Styles (Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally.) at number 3 and Sarah Connor (Freigeistin) at number 4. The remaining slots are occupied by the power‑metal band Angus McSix (Angus McSix And The All‑Seeing Astral Eye) at number 5, British singers Chris Norman (Lifelines) at number 6 and James Blake (Trying Times) at number 7, and the Bavarian indie group The Notwist (News From Planet Zombie) at number 10.
The singles chart was topped by the hip‑hop duo Lacazette & Jazeek with their track CDY, followed by Zara Larsson (Lush Life) at number 2 and Taylor Swift (The Fate Of Ophelia) at number 3. Tame Impala’s new release Dracula has leapt from 30 to 15, while American singer Dominic Fike secured two spots in the top 10 with Babydoll (now at 6) and White Keys (now at 7). The sharpest new entries were YC (Xalaz) at number 25 and Tream & treamiboii (Hasenjagd) at number 32.
The official German charts are compiled by GfK Entertainment on behalf of the German Music Industry Federation and cover roughly 90 percent of all music sales.
