Bayern Munich secured a convincing 4‑0 victory over Union Berlin on the 27th matchday of the Bundesliga. From the outset the Bavarians dominated, leaving the capital team with almost no opportunities.
In the first half, Bayern set the tone. Michael Olise opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, converting a long pass from Leon Goretzka inside the penalty box and striking the ball far into the corner. A few minutes later, in first‑half stoppage time, Serge Gnabry extended the lead to 2‑0. Following a Joshua Kimmich cross, Union’s goalkeeper could not clear the ball, and Gnabry seized the chance to tap in from close range.
The second half saw Bayern continue their attacking surge. Harry Kane, who had already been creating chances in the first half, netted a goal in the 49th minute to bring the score to 3‑0. After a quick double‑pass with Konrad Laimer, he fired a 15‑meter shot into the right corner. Union Berlin struggled to put serious pressure on the Bayern defence, managing only a handful of brief counter‑attacks that failed to break through.
The final blow came in the 67th minute when Gnabry scored his second goal of the day. After a blocked shot from Olise, the ball fell to Gnabry, who quickly steered it flat into the opposite corner. With this win, Bayern cemented their position at the top of the table and looked fully prepared for the challenges ahead in both the league and the Champions League.
For Union Berlin, the defeat in Freiburg after a hard‑won away victory forced them to regroup. Despite a committed defensive effort in the first half, the team under Steffen Baumgart could not withstand Bayern’s pressure. They will now aim to pick up points in upcoming matches to widen the gap to the relegation zone.
Other Saturday afternoon results: Heidenheim 3 – 3 Leverkusen, Wolfsburg 0 – 1 Bremen, and Cologne 3 – 3 Mönchengladbach.
