Fridays for Future Denounce Germany’s 2026 Climate Plan as “Unworthy” and Call for Urgent Action.

The federal cabinet unveiled its Climate Protection Programme 2026 on Wednesday, but climate‑activist group Fridays for Future (FFF) says it falls short of what is needed.

FFF spokesperson Linda Kastrup told the “Rheinische Post” that “the government’s climate protection programme is not worth its name”. She added that even new wind farms won’t alter the overall backward trajectory in the energy, heating, and transport sectors.

Kastrup warned that the worsening conditions projected under the programme are serious. She said, “With the grid package, building‑modernisation act, and the Renewable Energy Act, the expansion of renewables and sustainable heating will not merely be stalled-it will be buried”.
