KSC Confirms Coach Eichner Departure After Six and a Half Years

Christian Eichner will no longer be the head coach of Karlsruher SC for the upcoming season. The second-division club confirmed on Wednesday, thereby verifying reports from the media, that a coaching change will take place after six and a half years, specifically starting with the 2026/27 season. This decision was reached following “several intensive discussions”.

Mario Eggimann, the club’s sports managing director, stated that there is no debate about Christian Eichner’s importance to KSC. He added, “Over the years, Christian has developed into a flagship figure for our club through hard work and dedication. However, in our responsibility to KSC, it is our duty to assess and question the overall situation at all times”. According to Eggimann, the feeling has solidified over time that after six and a half years of working together, the club has reached a point in its development where it wants to introduce new impetus for the future.

Eichner assumed the role of head coach at KSC in February 2020, having previously served as an interim head coach in 2017. Currently, the Karlsruher SC are positioned in a stable mid-table spot, ranking ninth in the 2. Bundesliga table.
