Ryanair Warns of Potential Summer Cancellations Amid Volatile Fuel Prices

Ryanair has indicated that it cannot rule out flight cancellations this summer due to the current high cost of kerosene. Speaking on the upcoming peak travel period, a Ryanair manager advised that the airline is closely monitoring the situation, as they view it with significant concern. Although the airline has managed to secure 80 percent of the fuel it needs until the end of March 2027 through fixed-price hedging, the manager noted that 20 percent of the required fuel remains uncertain, suggesting that short-term price increases might become necessary. Given that some airports in Italy are already experiencing kerosene shortages, the management stressed the need to continue monitoring the supply situation closely. Consequently, the manager recommended that travelers purchase their tickets well in advance, ideally before shortages potentially intensify in June or July.
