Following the US government’s refusal to permanently station Tomahawk cruise missiles in Germany as part of Russia deterrence efforts, Ukraine has offered a delivery of long-range drones and missiles as a replacement capability. Alonya Getmanchuk, the Ukrainian Ambassador to the NATO Mission in Brussels, told “Welt” that her country believes it can significantly strengthen NATO’s deep strike capabilities and address the alliance’s skill gaps at a critical juncture-including the deep-strike capabilities that were previously anticipated from the United States. Getmanchuk added that should NATO member states, like Germany, seek such assets in the future, they could potentially offer their own accumulated experience and effective weaponry: long-range drones and missiles. She emphasized that Ukraine has “a lot to offer” rooted in its extensive experience conducting deep-strike precision missions within hostile territory. According to Getmanchuk, Ukraine has learned a tremendous amount from its history of executing such military precision attacks. She asserted that the country possesses valuable expertise and “unique solutions” not only for defending against drones but also for executing complex precision strikes.
