Blume Takes Top Album Spot as German Charts See Lineup of Hits and Tributes

The German album charts saw a complete shake-up this week. According to GfK, Felix Blume, formerly known as Kollegah, made a significant debut by entering the charts as a new chart-topper. With his performance under the name “Alpha DNA” he displaced last week’s winner, Billie Eilish, from the eighth spot.

Following him is US punk rock band Social Distortion with “Born To Kill”. At number three, a tribute album dedicated to Udo Lindenberg-who celebrates his 80th birthday on Sunday-has entered the rankings. Twenty-four music stars, spanning acts from Hans Zimmer to Tokio Hotel, included own interpretations of his biggest hits in homage to Lindenberg.

Other noticeable placements include Maite Kelly at number four with “24/7” and the compilation “Sing meinen Song – Das Tauschkonzert, Vol. 13” holding the fifth spot. Following these are current stars like Giovanni Zarrella and the Frida-Gold singer Alina Süggeler.

In the single charts, Justin Bieber retained his number one position from the previous week with “Beauty and a Beat”. Taking the number two spot is Cave & Amo with “Casa Suba”.

The movement in the rest of the charts was minimal compared to last week. Zara Larsson remains at number three with “Lush Life” and Tame Impala is at number four with “Dracula”. Michael Jackson saw a one-spot climb, with “Billie Jean” now placed at number five.

The official German charts are determined by GfK Entertainment on behalf of the German Music Industry Association, covering 90 percent of all music sales.
