FC Bayern München secured the DFB Cup finale against reigning champion VfB Stuttgart with a 3-0 victory, thereby completing their domestic treble.
In the first half, VfB Stuttgart was the more proactive side, putting pressure on Bayern with aggressive pressing. However, the Swabians were unable to create clear scoring opportunities. Both teams had attempts from dangerous long-range shots, which were saved by goalkeepers Jonas Urbig and Alexander Nübel. The match remained goalless at the break, which Stuttgart considered a partial success.
After the halftime break, Bayern gradually took more control of the game. Stuttgart struggled to cope with the pressure from the Munich side and appeared unable to re-engage.
Bayern eventually took the lead in the 55th minute with a header from Harry Kane, amidst the thick pyrotechnic smoke. Joshua Kimmich took a free-kick, delivered a service to Michael Olise on the right side, who then accurately crossed the ball to Kane. The striker seized the chance and headed the ball in from a close range.
In the 80th minute, Kane doubled the lead to 2-0 following a two-pass move with Luis Diaz. Kane skillfully dodged Chema Andres and finished the move confidently.
A handball penalty occurred in injury time as Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller received an Olise cross to the forearm. Kane successfully converted this penalty as well.
Overall, it was a deserved win for Bayern, who managed to win the DFB Cup again after six years.
