According to a recent poll conducted by the market research institute Insa, commissioned by “Bild am Sonntag”, the Free Democratic Party (FDP) lost ground during its party conference this weekend and has once again dropped significantly below the five-percent electoral threshold. The FDP currently registers at three percent, a point lower than the previous week.
In other national polls, the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) remains the strongest force, holding at 29 percent. The CDU/CSU coalition (Union) maintains its position at 22 percent. The Greens remain stable at 14 percent, the Social Democrats (SPD) are unchanged at 12 percent, and The Left party holds 11 percent. The BSW (Alliance for Sustainability) stands at 3 percent, on par with the FDP.
Separately, the former Bundestag vice-president, Wolfgang Kubicki, is slated to be elected the party’s new chairman on Saturday.
The methodology for the “Bild am Sonntag” Sunday trend involved surveying 1,205 people between May 26 and May 29, 2026.
