According to the magazine Politico, Helmer Krane, the FDP vice for Schleswig-Holstein, is expected to take over the role of party secretary under the potential leadership of Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann.
Strack-Zimmermann, who previously served as the chairwoman of the Defence Committee in the European Parliament, was unexpectedly proposed as a candidate for the party chairmanship during the FDP federal party conference by Joachim Stamp. In his address at the conference, the former integration minister from North Rhine-Westphalia advocated for Strack-Zimmermann as the new party leader.
Krane is a member of the Schleswig-Holstein FDP state executive board and is considered a close confidant of the regional chairman, Christopher Vogt, who suggested Wolfgang Kubicki for the chairmanship.
