Leverkusen Taps Carles Martinez as New Head Coach, Succeeding Hjulmand

Carles Martinez has been appointed the new head coach of Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen. The club confirmed media reports on Thursday afternoon that the Spaniard will be succeeding Kasper Hjulmand, who will leave the club after a single season.

Martinez was most recently with FC Toulouse in the French Ligue 1, where he was employed until the end of the season. He concluded the previous campaign with the Southern French side finishing in ninth place. He is set to join the Leverkusen squad starting July 1, 2026, and has signed a contract valid until June 30, 2028.
