Ipsos Survey: Germans Trust Nagelsmann’s Leadership More Than Merz’s Cabinet

According to a survey conducted by the Ipsos Institute, the public rates national team coach Julian Nagelsmann significantly higher than Chancellor Friedrich Merz when it comes to team management. A total of 64 percent of respondents are convinced that the national team coach manages his squad better than the Chancellor manages his cabinet. Only 4 percent gave the Chancellor the superior rating, while 32 percent remained undecided or offered no answer.

The outlook for the World Cup winner is less decisive among Germans. Spain currently leads the predictions, with 15 percent of respondents believing the European champion will secure the title. Germany and France follow closely behind, tied at 14 percent each. Brazil placed fifth at 5 percent, while Portugal, England, and the reigning champions Argentina each received 4 percent.

Ipsos polled 1,000 eligible voters aged 18 to 75 in Germany online. The results were weighted based on age, gender, education, region, and voting behavior in the last Federal Election. The survey took place between May 8 and May 10, but the findings were published on Wednesday.
