The leader of the Left party, Luigi Pantisano, sharply criticized the federal government’s planned reforms. “The federal government is not implementing reforms; they are currently organizing social theft,” he stated in Berlin on Monday.
He pointed specifically to the statutory health insurance reform, which is expected to be finalized this week. Pantisano argued that this plan is not a reform but rather “an attack on all of us.” He explained that the proposed measures involve saving 16.3 billion euros in the statutory health insurance system alone next year, while maintaining the same contribution rates. Consequently, he concluded, “this means there will be fewer benefits.”
According to the leader of the Left party, the reform plans clearly demonstrate “the federal government’s disdain for working people and for parents with children.” Instead of accepting these changes, The Left is demanding an insurance system that all citizens contribute to. Pantisano also added that the contribution assessment limit must be raised as part of this alternative.
