Trump Dismisses Iran Ceasefire, Declaring Negotiations a “Pure Time Waste”

Following recent reciprocal exchanges of fire between the United States and Iran, President Donald Trump has questioned the validity of the existing ceasefire. During the NATO summit in Ankara, in response to a question about whether the truce was ending, he stated, “In my opinion, it’s over,” adding that he wants “nothing more to do with them.” Trump also mentioned speaking with US negotiators, but dismissed their desire to continue talks, saying, “As far as I’m concerned, engaging with them is just a waste of time.”

The US and Iran had signed an intention declaration in mid-June, which solidified the ceasefire and set up a 60-day negotiation period aimed at reaching a final, permanent peace agreement. However, the agreement has recently experienced increasingly frequent violations.

The Iran is not the only country drawing Trump’s frustration at the NATO summit. The US President also expressed strong disapproval of some allies, especially Spain. Due to a dispute concerning the Iran conflict, Trump announced his intention to halt all trade relations with the country.
