Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has decided to relocate another Luftwaffe training battalion to Fürstenfeldbruck. The ministry announced this measure on Monday, confirming it is part of the ongoing expansion of the armed forces. The decision was made to increase training capacity significantly due to the rising number of recruits and the implementation of the new military service system, thereby addressing current needs quickly. Fürstenfeldbruck will consequently become a Bundeswehr site again, following a review of its previous functions. The placement of the second Luftwaffe training battalion in Fürstenfeldbruck is intended to strengthen the Luftwaffe’s training structure. According to the ministry, this creates additional training opportunities close to a major population center, which allows many potential service members to find a recruitment location near their homes. This organizational step is considered a vital part of introducing the new military service nationwide.
