A United States World War bomb has been discovered in the Deutz district of Cologne. The city of Cologne announced that the ordnance is scheduled to be diffused on the same day. A 400-meter evacuation zone has been established around the discovery site, which also includes the RTL broadcasting center.
Due to the evacuation, RTL reported that the show “RTL Aktuell” will not be broadcast from Cologne as usual but will instead be transmitted from the main studio in Berlin. Furthermore, the news channel ntv will set up a mobile studio in front of the Hyatt Hotel in Cologne starting at 3 PM, located outside the exclusion zone.
The evacuation affects large parts of the Rheinpark, the area around the Zoobrücke on the Deutz side of the Rhine, the Dance Fountain, sections of the Kennedy Quay on the left bank of the Rhine, as well as areas near the Bastei and the Konrad Adenauer Quay.
