US Stocks Dip Amid AI Skepticism and Middle East Tensions

US stock markets experienced a decline on Tuesday. By the end of trading in New York, the Dow Jones calculated at 53,343 points, registering a loss of 0.2 percent compared to the previous trading day. Slightly earlier, the broader S&P 500 was down 0.7 percent with approximately 7,692 points, while the technology market, the Nasdaq 100, was down 1.7 percent at around 29,491 points.

On Tuesday, market doubts regarding the promises of so-called “Artificial Intelligence” became more pronounced. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index saw a drop of about five percent. Concurrently, fears of escalating tensions in the Middle East grew, following threats made by US President Donald Trump to Oman on Monday.

In the currency market, the Euro weakened slightly on Tuesday evening. One Euro was priced at 1.1573 US dollars, making the dollar available for 0.8641 Euros.

Commodity prices also shifted. The price of gold fell sharply, with a fine troy ounce selling for 4,341 US dollars in the evening, representing a decrease of 1.8 percent. This corresponds to a price of 120.60 Euros per gram. Conversely, the price of oil saw a slight increase. A barrel of Brent crude from the North Sea cost 91.01 US dollars as of approximately 10 PM German time on Tuesday, which was 14 cents, or 0.2 percent, more than the previous day’s closing figures.
