Germany’s Wadephul Thanks Allies for Solidarity After Leipzig Drone Incident, Calls for Strong Support for Ukraine

Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul (CDU) views the solidarity shown by international partners in response to the dispute with Russia over the Leipzig/Halle airport drone incident as a positive signal. Speaking with his colleagues from France and Poland during a meeting in Weimar, the German politician noted that the event served as a stark reminder that Russian aggression shows little regard for boundaries. He expressed deep appreciation for the support his partners have provided since the incident began.

Wadephul asserted that achieving a renewed peace in Europe is only possible through unwavering support for Ukraine and sustained pressure on Moscow. He added that this idea had been clearly underscored during yesterday’s gathering of EU foreign ministers, alongside their Ukrainian counterpart.

The German foreign minister warned that Ukraine now faces a difficult winter war, stressing that the nation requires their ongoing support to counter Putin’s attacks.
