RB Leipzig Dominates Elversberg in 4-0 Victory, Securing Fifth Place in Bundesliga Standings

RB Leipzig defeated SV Elversberg 4-0 in the 7th matchday of the 1. Bundesliga.

The home side took the lead in the 48th minute. Following an in-swinging cross on the left side, RB striker Antonio Nusa gained momentum and was not stopped by several Elversberg defenders. Around 18 meters from the goal, Nusa threaded a pass to his teammate Gomis, who finished with a flat shot into the left corner on the first touch.

In the 66th minute, Romulo extended the lead for the Leipzig side. Nusa had sent his teammate Romulo into the attack, and Romulo managed to assert himself in the footrace against Elversberg defender Lukas Pinckert before shooting from about 14 meters centrally, with the opponent’s goalkeeper Nicolas Kristof unable to prevent the flat shot from finding the net.

Christoph Baumgartner increased the Leipzig advantage to 3-0 in the 84th minute. Brajan Gruda, an RB midfielder, received the second opportunity after a corner kick from the right side was poorly delivered, crossing the ball deep into the long post where Baumgartner headed it in from close range.

The match concluded with a 4-0 result in the 4th minute of stoppage time in the second half, when Romulo netted the fourth goal. RB defender Abdoul Koné, who had recently replaced a player, ran down the right penalty area side to the goal line, laying the ball back to Romulo, allowing him to slide the ball home from three meters.

This victory allows Leipzig to climb to fifth place in the standings, while Elversberg temporarily slips to eighth place.
