Before the start of the beer season at the 191st Oktoberfest, famous Munich host Michael Käfer anticipates a record-breaking event. Speaking to the magazine Focus, Käfer indicated that there is no sign of an economic crisis affecting the festival. He noted that everything is completely sold out, a trend he observed not only at his establishment but also at other tents on the grounds.
According to Käfer, the recent warnings concerning the wider economy are unable to dampen the enthusiasm for the Volksfest. “People simply go to Oktoberfest, regardless of purchasing power problems,” the Wiesn host explained. He also pointed out a new driver for the festival’s popularity: “Social media is helping our business. You need these kinds of events to post photos on social networks.”
This massive world festival is scheduled to run from September 19th to October 4th, 2026. The high-profile attendance, often documented by photographers, will kick off early on the first Sunday at Käfer’s Wiesn-Schänke, which features the “Almauftrieb”-a display where sports and show stars attend dressed in traditional Dirndls and Lederhosen.
