Ulrich Siegmund, the lead candidate for the AfD, cast his vote during the state election in Saxony-Anhalt. He cast his ballot on Sunday morning at a polling station located at the Förderschule in Tangermünde. Before heading to the polls, Siegmund and his wife rode on a Simson motorcycle and were cheered on by several of their supporters.
Siegmund holds the potential to take on the office of Prime Minister following the election. However, this outcome is likely contingent upon the AfD securing an absolute majority of the mandates. Furthermore, the crucial role that other parties play in clearing the five-percent electoral threshold will also be a deciding factor.
Polling places will close at 6 PM, after which preliminary results and various forecasts from post-election surveys are anticipated.
