Even as polling stations remain open for the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt, the first left-wing protesters gathered on Sunday afternoon at the main train station in Magdeburg. They were carrying banners with slogans such as “Socialism or Barbarism” and “Fight Fascism.” Police are involved in a large-scale deployment. According to media reports, the demonstration was not registered. It is anticipated that if the AfD achieves a successful electoral outcome, larger protests will take place in the state capital.
