The ongoing state election in Saxony-Anhalt is seeing the potential entry of the BSW solidify its position in the state parliament. According to the projection from “Forschungsgruppe Wahlen für das ZDF” provided at 10:29 PM, the BSW has now reached 5.1 percent. This value had already been reported by ARD over several hours.
The BSW could play a decisive role in determining whether Ulrich Siegmund, the AfD’s leading candidate, will be elected Minister-President. While the BSW’s entry alone would not provide the AfD with a majority, the party has hinted that it might abstain (in the third round of voting) to potentially clear a path for Siegmund. Ultimately, the final seat distribution will dictate the outcome. Current reports from ARD show that the CDU, SPD, Greens, and Left party each have one more seat than the AfD, whereas the ZDF data presents a more balanced ratio.
Based on the latest projections, the AfD averages 44.1 percent, the CDU averages 17.5 percent, the SPD averages 9.1 percent, the Greens average 9.0 percent, and the Left Party averages 8.6 percent. Conversely, the FDP is projected to fall out of parliament with only 2.5 percent, while all other parties account for 4.2 percent.
