During the third matchday of the 1. Bundesliga, 1. FC Köln and Werder Bremen concluded their fixture with a 1-1 draw.
The hosts took the lead in the 11th minute through Linton Maina. The goal began when Köln’s midfielder Tom Krauß intercepted a pass intended for Bremen defender Amos Pieper. Krauß immediately shifted the play and supplied his teammate Ellyes Skhiri. Skhiri then directed the ball to Maina, who finished the attack from the right half-side into the far corner at a sharp angle, approximately 17 meters out.
Werder Bremen equalized 69 minutes later, with Niclas Füllkrug scoring the tie. Following a corner kick from Bremen midfielder Chuki on the left side, Köln defender Jahmai Simpson-Pusey initially cleared the header from Bremen’s Pieper towards Füllkrug. The German forward then slotted the ball into the left corner from close range.
As a result of the draw, Köln currently holds 11th place in the league table, while Bremen manages to climb to the 9th spot.
