Tino Chrupalla, co-chairman of the AfD party, has stated plans to scrap German aid to Ukraine, arguing that the funds would be redirected to significantly lower taxes on gasoline and diesel. Speaking to the news program ntv on Monday, Chrupalla confirmed their intention to eliminate support for Ukraine, noting that these transfers, which amount to over €100 billion spent by Germany in the last four years, are currently financed, in part, by specific tax rates.
Chrupalla proposed using both these saved funds from Ukraine aid and the Climate Transformation Fund to push for reductions in fuel costs. He denounced the current taxes on diesel and gasoline as “extortion,” pointing out that the state currently collects nearly 60 percent in taxes and fees from all fuel sales.
The party leader outlined a clear policy proposal: he called for the permanent removal of the energy tax and the CO2 tax on fuels.
