This past week saw conflicting developments in fuel prices across Germany. According to recent figures from the ADAC, the price of Super E10 decreased by 2.6 cents, settling at an average of 2.084 Euros per liter. Conversely, the price of diesel rose by 3.4 cents, reaching 2.289 Euros per liter. This difference means diesel is currently priced more than 20 cents higher than Super E10.
In contrast to the domestic gasoline trend, the price of crude oil increased; the North Sea grade Brent recently cost around 114 US dollars per barrel. The ADAC explained that factors such as the rise in global oil prices, heightened tension in international diesel markets, and increasing demand for heating oil as the colder season approached particularly influenced the diesel price. Despite the increase in crude oil costs, the reduction in gasoline prices indicated that there was room for price cuts in Super E10.
