Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens has completed a transfer to Chelsea, the London club announced on Saturday.
The 20-year-old attacker, who was also linked with Bayern Munich, has signed a long-term contract with the Blues, securing his services until 2032.
Gittens joined Borussia Dortmund’s youth setup nearly five years ago, having previously been part of Manchester City’s academy. He has since made 107 competitive appearances for Dortmund’s senior team. His Bundesliga debut occurred in May 2021, under the guidance of then-manager Marco Rose, in a 6-1 victory against Wolfsburg. Over the subsequent three years, he featured in 74 Bundesliga matches, scoring twelve goals and providing eleven assists.
The move to Chelsea follows a previously failed transfer attempt that was called off prior to the FIFA Club World Cup. Gittens will return to his hometown of London and faces significant competition for places in manager Enzo Maresca’s squad as he vies for opportunities on the attacking wing positions.
