Borussia Dortmund suffered its first defeat in the competition during the Champions League League phase, losing 0-1 to FK Bodø/Glimt at home on Wednesday evening. In Northern Norway, Dortmund struggled to control the match for a long time. Conversely, the home team played with clear intent and created the better chances before the break. After the halftime whistle, Bodø/Glimt increased the pressure and capitalized on the opportunity in the 52nd minute; right-back Fredrik Sjövold capitalized on a low cross from Sebastian Auklend from close range. Kovac countered the team’s goal-scoring efforts with four substitutions, which injected noticeable energy into the guests’ attack. Substitute Felix Nmecha missed a long-range shot against goalkeeper Nikita Haikin, and Ethan Nwaneri also failed to put the header in the net. With the score at 3-2 after the first match against Villarreal, Dortmund took the initial setback.
Meanwhile, VfB Stuttgart remains undefeated in the elite competition. The team managed by Sebastian Hoeneß controlled the action from the outset in the Slovakian capital. In the 29th minute, captain Deniz Undav opened the scoring for the Schwaben after an assist from Angelo Stiller. Soon after, Josha Vagnoman hit a powerful volley that struck only the woodwork. After the break, Slovan became bolder. A potential equalizer from Suleiman Camara was disallowed following a review by the video assistant for offside. Sandro Cruz then created the decisive goal in the 64th minute when he deflected a cross from Vagnoman into his own net. Finally, in the 90th minute, substitute Ermedin Demirovic sealed the victory. Following a long ball from Atakan Karazor, Anthony Assignon crossed from the right, and Demirovic headed home from close quarters to make it 3-0. For VfB, this marked their second victory in their second match, building on their 3-1 win against Viking Stavanger.
