Three people were killed in a residential building fire early Tuesday morning in Bochum, police reported. Witnesses alerted authorities to the blaze around 4:15 AM. Both the fire department and police immediately responded to the scene with a large deployment to begin rescue and extinguishing operations.
Tragically, help arrived too late for the three deceased, who were recovered from the building deceased. Rescue efforts successfully saved other individuals: two people were removed using an aerial ladder, two others via portable ladders, and one person was rescued using a jump cushion. In total, five individuals sustained injuries and were transported to Bochum hospitals after being treated by emergency medical services.
The Bochum Police Headquarters, working under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office, has set up an investigation committee to clarify the circumstances of the incident. Currently, no information has been released regarding the background or the exact cause of the fire, and investigations are ongoing.
