The Bundestag revoked the immunity of SPD parliamentary representative Adis Ahmetovic. On Thursday, Parliament approved a recommendation from the Committee for Electoral Review, Immunity, and Rules of Procedure concerning immunity matters, and this decision was made without debate. By doing so, the Bundestag authorized the execution of judicial search and seizure warrants against Ahmetovic, as per a letter from the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection dated October 12th. The immunity revocation passed with a unanimous vote. Initially, the specifics of the case were unclear. Ahmetovic serves as the chairman of the SPD city association in Hanover, and the Hanover Public Prosecutor’s Office had recently initiated investigations involving several SPD politicians.
