Explosive Delay: Railway Track Closed Berlin-Hamburg After World War Bomb Discovery

Following the discovery of an old World War II bomb, the rail line connecting Berlin and Hamburg was completely closed on Tuesday morning.

The discovery took place at Müssen station in the Herzogtum Lauenburg district. The railway announced that service restrictions would affect long-distance traffic. Consequently, not only all ICE trains between Hamburg and Berlin, but also those running between Hamburg and Rostock, have been cancelled. Furthermore, all ICE trains on the Berlin-Hamburg-Amsterdam route will be diverted between Berlin and Osnabrück, routing through Hanover. The stops at Hamburg-Bergedorf and Hamburg-Harburg have been removed, with the trains now stopping in Hanover instead.

Although the exact timeframe for the disarmament procedure was initially unclear, the railway stated it would release further information at a later date. Travelers are advised to reconfirm their connections before starting their journey.
