Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) criticized the hoisting of the Palestinian flag in front of the Reichstag, describing it as a “deliberate provocation” by left-wing agitators. In a statement given to the “Bild-Zeitung” (Monday edition), Dobrindt called the incident that occurred on Sunday “an act of absolute disrespect and conscious provocation.” The CSU politician further stated that it was clearly a “planned action by left-wing agitators” and that “potential further participants from the Palestinian agitator scene need to be identified.” The Interior Minister concluded by saying that there is a “very obvious need for more protective measures to guard our symbols of freedom and democracy against this chaos and to preserve them from targeted disdain.”
