The club announced Sunday that Adi Hütter will take over the role of head coach at Eintracht Frankfurt starting July 1, 2026. The 56-year-old Austrian signed a contract that runs until June 30, 2029.
This represents a return for Hütter to former working grounds, as he previously coached in Frankfurt from July 2018 to June 2021. During his first stint with the club, Eintracht won all six group stage matches in the Europa League and also reached the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal a year later. Following his initial period in Frankfurt, Hütter coached Borussia Mönchengladbach for one season before moving to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, where he was surprisingly sacked last season.
The new coaching staff will include Christian Peintinger and Klaus Schmidt. Peintinger worked alongside Hütter during his first time at Eintracht Frankfurt, and subsequently with him at Mönchengladbach and Monaco. Schmidt joined the team later in his career at the club. Jan Zimmermann will remain as the goalkeeping coach for Eintracht.
Sporting director Markus Krösche commented on the appointment, stating, “Adi Hütter stands for bold attacking football, clarity, and discipline”. He added that Hütter had proven in his various roles that he could combine fast transitional play with ball retention. Krösche specifically cited his recent work in Monaco, praising how he had successfully developed and stabilized one of the league’s youngest teams, allowing them to establish themselves in the top group of Ligue 1. The club expressed confidence in their ability to develop Eintracht further together.
