Wolfram Weimer, the non-partisan Minister of Culture, plans to establish a collection of sculptures and statues originating from across Europe. This project aims to fill the square in Berlin where Hitler announced the invasion of Poland in 1939, the event that triggered the Second World War. Speaking to “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland,” Weimer stated, “I want to initiate a Glyptothek with European art.” He further explained that he wishes to unite the art of Europe at the very location where Hitler plunged the continent into disaster. This square is positioned between the Federal Chancellery and the Reichstag building, occupying the site that once housed the Krolloper in the Great Tiergarten.
