Adis Ahmetovic, the foreign policy spokesperson for the Social Democratic Party (SPD), has demanded that the CDU chairman, Friedrich Merz, demonstrate a level of self-awareness ahead of Merz’s visit to the SPD parliamentary group. Speaking to the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland” Ahmetovic stated, “I expect humility and clarity”. According to Ahmetovic, Merz must credibly show what he intends to improve in the future, “particularly in his communication”. Furthermore, he must provide clarity by formulating a positive vision for the future that offers direction and incorporates both the parliament and the general public. Ahmetovic stressed that this needs to succeed now. Merz is scheduled to appear before the SPD group on Tuesday afternoon. Prior to this, he plans to appear before the press alongside SPD parliamentary group leader Matthias Miersch.
