Sepp Müller, the head of the CDU parliamentary group in the Bundestag for Saxony-Anhalt, has responded to the state’s poor polling situation by issuing a direct challenge to the Alternative for Germany (AfD). Speaking to the news portal T-Online, Müller declared that they would fight for every single vote “with all their might”.
He asserted that the path forward is clear: while the AfD merely presents simple solutions to complex problems, the CDU maintains a genuine claim to shape the future. Müller stated that they are confident they will persuade voters of this claim, adding, “The people in Saxony-Anhalt want stability and reliability”.
This push comes as the state election approaches in four months. According to a current survey conducted by the Infratest Institute, the AfD leads the CDU by a significant margin, polling at 41 percent compared to 26 percent for the Christian Democratic Union.
