The DAX saw a slight positive movement toward midday on Monday after a measured start to trading. Around 12:30 p.m., the index reached approximately 24,890 points, representing a gain of 0.2 percent compared to the previous trading day. Siemens Energy, RWE, and Fresenius led the index, while MTU, Vonovia, and Bayer finished in the closing ranks.
Thomas Altmann of QC Partners commented on the situation, noting that “the DAX moved somewhat away from the psychologically important 25,000-point mark on Friday.” He added that after seven consecutive days, the 25,000 level was not touched in Friday’s trading, though the marker remains within reach.
Meanwhile, investors are already focusing on the European Central Bank’s (ECB) interest rate decision, which is scheduled for Thursday, leading to a period of cautiousness among participants until then.
In currency markets, the Euro strengthened slightly by midday on Monday, costing $1.1432 against the US Dollar. Accordingly, the Dollar was traded for 0.8747 Euros.
Oil prices also experienced a minor decline. Around 12 a.m. German time, a barrel of Brent crude from the North Sea cost $88.03 US, which was 7 cents, or 0.1 percent, less than the close of the previous trading session.
