Following recent attacks on power substations, the FAZ has reported receiving two letters of confession from the perpetrator. In one of these documents, allegedly received on Thursday, the individual details several short circuits he intends to cause, including an incident in Dormagen, North Rhine-Westphalia. Police later confirmed a deliberate act of sabotage at the Dormagen substation on the night leading up to Friday.
In this letter, the writer claimed he was not attacking the country itself but rather the fossil fuel industry, although he acknowledged that some politicians viewed the matter identically. He also mentioned an alleged attack in Weisweiler. According to the FAZ, the police discovered similar shooting and sabotage devices in the vicinity of the brown coal power plant there on Friday morning, consistent with previous sabotage incidents. Regarding the attacks, he expressed satisfaction that there were no resulting power outages, even though modules at the coal power plant were shut down.
A previous letter, obtained by the FAZ and other media outlets, related to the attack on the substation near the Brandenburg community of Jänschwalde on Tuesday. In that communication, he justified his actions by stating that electricity generated from fossil fuels is a “crime” that causes “intolerable suffering.” Furthermore, he provided a detailed account of the supposed crime, mentioning various equipment he planned to use, such as electric initiators, timers, pipes, and wires.
