Elif Eralp, the lead candidate for The Left in the Berlin mayoral election, has strongly criticized the BSW, warning that its voting behavior could pave the way for an AfD government. Calling the situation “an absolute catastrophe” during an interview on the ntv program “Pinar Atalay” on Monday, Eralp reiterated her long-standing commitment to migration-friendly policies based on human rights. She explained that she joined The Left back in 2017, immediately after the AfD made its first entry into the Bundestag. At that time, she perceived the migration-hostile stance of the then-The Left politician Sahra Wagenknecht. Eralp recalled her mobilization against Wagenknecht within the party at that time, arguing that “this path leads to the right.” Now, she states that the significant danger is that the BSW is becoming “a pawn for an AfD government.”
