In the World Cup quarter-final, England defeated Norway 2-1 after extra time. The score was tied 1-1 after the initial 90 minutes of play.
The first half started slowly, only picking up pace in the last ten minutes. Norway took the lead in the 36th minute when Andreas Schjelderup scored brilliantly with a left-footed shot. Just two minutes into injury time, Jude Bellingham equalized for England after a strong individual effort in the penalty area. Shortly afterwards, Bellingham also set up Kane, who positioned the ball well for the net, though he was ruled offside.
Norway dominated the action during the second half and generated several chances to retake the lead. Ajer struck the post from a corner kick, and Haaland further posed a danger with a header. England, meanwhile, rarely managed to get into the Norwegian penalty area and remained relatively harmless in attack.
In extra time, Jude Bellingham made another impact immediately. In the 93rd minute, a long ball from teammate Rogers from 25 meters was initially saved by Norwegian keeper Nyland, but it rebounded, and Bellingham followed up to score.
With this victory, England now faces the winner of the Argentina-Switzerland match-set to be played later that evening-in Wednesday’s semi-final in Atlanta.
