In the Bundesliga, Union Berlin grabbed their first season victory on the fifth matchday. The team, managed by Mauro Lustrinelli, defeated newly promoted side SV Elversberg 1-0 in a closely contested battle. Livan Burcu scored the winning goal in the 81st minute, volleying a blocked corner into the bottom-left corner of the net. Despite this victory, Union Berlin remains anchored in the second-to-last position in the league table, though they can look more optimistically toward upcoming fixtures. Elversberg, on the other hand, dropped to eighth place after suffering its second defeat following a strong start to the season.
The Augsburg versus Bayern match proved to be highly spectacular. The record champion conceded the fastest goal in league history in the very first minute. Following the kickoff, the ball went directly to Neuer, who fumbled it, allowing Augsburg’s Robin Fellhauer to score the early strike. Bayern managed to equalize in the 55th minute through Ismael Saibari. After further goals were scored-Rodrigo Ribeiro for Augsburg in the 64th minute and Nathaniel Brown for Bayern in the 80th minute-the final score stood at 2-2. Nevertheless, four additional Bayern goals were disallowed for various reasons during the game.
Other results from Saturday afternoon included: TSG 1899 Hoffenheim defeating Hamburger SV 3-2; 1. FSV Mainz 05 losing to Bayer 04 Leverkusen 3-4; and SC Paderborn 07 losing to VfB Stuttgart 0-2.
