Four gold seekers who were trapped for days in a flooded cave in Laos have been rescued. According to Josh Richards, a caver involved in the mission, who spoke to CNN, the men managed to free themselves from the mountain on Saturday after the water level decreased considerably.
Previous progress included the safe extraction of another man on Friday evening. However, two other individuals known to be inside the cave remain missing. Rescue teams are currently reviewing the situation and are developing plans for the next steps needed to locate the missing persons.
The international rescue team had previously warned that the mission posed extreme complexity due to the difficult conditions and heavy reliance on weather. Lee Kian Lie, a Malaysian rescue diver, explained that the teams are attempting to deploy machinery deeper into the cave to pump out more water. Concurrently, search teams are exploring another section of the mountain to potentially find alternative routes to the missing people.
