In the fourth matchday of the 1. Bundesliga, Eintracht Frankfurt and SC Freiburg finished with a 2-2 draw.
Frankfurt took the lead in the 10th minute when Younes Ebnoutalib scored. The goal resulted from a long ball sent by Frankfurt defender Lilian Brassier, which found Jonathan Burkardt. Burkardt controlled the ball with his chest and then passed it into the penalty area to Frankfurt midfielder Ritsu Doan. Doan played the ball across to Ebnoutalib, who slotted it into the empty net.
Freiburg managed to level the score in the 34th minute with a goal from Derry Scherhant. The move began when Igor Matanovic secured the ball at the midfield line and passed it immediately to Yannik Engelhardt. Engelhardt then fed Makengo on the left flank. Makengo delivered the ball into the path of Derry Scherhant, who struck the shot powerfully with his right foot from within the box. Although Frankfurt goalkeeper Noah Atubolu made an attempt at the low shot, he was unable to save it.
Just two minutes later, in the 36th minute, Burkardt gave Frankfurt a second-goal lead. Following a corner kick from the right side, Frankfurt defender Robin Koch headed the ball toward the goal, and Burkardt finished from close range.
After the halftime break, Yuito Suzuki secured the equalizer for the visitors in the 48th minute. Makengo sent the ball over to Scherhant on the left side, who delivered a thoughtful cross toward the far post. Suzuki made his run into the area and powerfully dispatched the ball into the net with his right inside of the foot.
As a result of the draw, Frankfurt currently holds 9th place in the standings, while Freiburg currently occupies 2nd place.
Other results from the round included: Borussia Mönchengladbach lost 3-4 against 1. FSV Mainz 05, Hamburger SV won 2-1 against 1. FC Köln, and Werder Bremen defeated FC Augsburg 3-2.
