According to provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the revenue in the hospitality sector in Germany remained constant in calendar and seasonally adjusted real (price-adjusted) terms compared to March 2026. However, in nominal terms (unadjusted for price changes), sales increased by 0.4 percent.
Looking year-on-year, revenue decreased by 7.1 percent in real terms when compared to April 2025, although nominal revenue rose by 0.7 percent over the same period.
Furthermore, regarding March 2026, the hospitality industry registered a real decrease of 1.7 percent compared to February 2026 (down from an initial estimate of -2.2 percent). Nominal revenue saw a slight dip of 0.6 percent (previously recorded as -1.3 percent).
Diving into specific sectors, hotels and other accommodation providers reported a real revenue increase of 1.2 percent and a nominal increase of 1.8 percent in April 2026 compared to March 2026. However, compared to April 2025, their real revenue fell by 7.4 percent, while nominal revenue rose by only 0.1 percent.
In the gastronomy segment, revenue dropped by 0.6 percent in real terms and by 0.2 percent in nominal terms compared to March 2026. When compared to April 2025, the sector’s revenue fell by 7.4 percent in real terms, yet managed to increase nominally by 0.5 percent, according to the Federal Office.
