The Iranian military command has officially reinstated the complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all maritime traffic. According to reports from the Iranian state television on Saturday, this action is justified by recent hostile attacks from opposing sides. The Iranian central command issued an official statement on Saturday, stating the closure was a direct response to “the clear breach of the first clause of the post-war agreement by the United States” and “the continued violations by the Zionist regime against the ceasefire in South Lebanon.”
Meanwhile, the planned preliminary signing of a peace agreement between Iran and the United States in Switzerland on Friday has fallen through. However, it remains unclear whether discussions will still take place this weekend. The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) announced that Switzerland continues to offer “a discreet and reliable framework” for talks concerning the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the US and Iran at Bürgenstock. It is understood that diplomats from various countries are already present.
