The Israeli defense company Elbit plans a substantial expansion of its operations in Germany. According to Marian Rachow, the CEO of the German Elbit subsidiary, the company aims to hire well over 1,000 employees within the next three years and intends to open up to eight new locations in the coming years.
Elbit, which specializes in areas such as radio and sensor technology, acquired the German radio equipment manufacturer Telefunken in Ulm in 2007. The German subsidiary was officially renamed Elbit Systems Deutschland in 2020. The largest shareholder is Israeli investor Michael Federmann, whose family originally hailed from Saxony, Germany, and fled the country before the National Socialists in the 1930s.
Rachow noted that the goal is to establish diverse development teams that will work in Germany, and possibly in Israel as well. Rachow, who previously served as Chief of Staff at Airbus Defence and Space, has been leading Elbit Germany since April 2025.
